Litter Pick – Whippendell Woods

June 9 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Be a wildlife saviour and help care for our local environment by supporting a litter pick near you – Join us !

Every year, an estimated 8 million tonnes of litter washes into our rivers and enters the world’s oceans. Plastic poses the biggest threat to marine wildlife as it doesn’t just disappear; it simply breaks down into smaller and smaller pieces, and has detrimental effects on food chains, working its way up from the tiniest organism into the bodies of animal throughout the food chain.

Litter pickers, high-vis vests and bin bags will be provided. We will also provide gloves but if you have your own gardening gloves feel free to bring these. Stout boots will be a bonus there as there is mud in places.

Children are welcome to participate but must be closely supervised by a parent or guardian at all times.

Every piece of litter collected is one less hazard in the environment. Come along – whether a regular picker or a first-time volunteer – and make a positive, practical contribution!

Meet on the bridge over the Canal in Cassiobury Park, WD3 3GG – near the Cassiobury Weir/ pass the miniture railway (what3words: vital.friday.tummy) at 9.55 for a prompt set off at 10.00am.  We will arrive back to the bridge by approximately noon.
