DESCRIPTION:An informative walk of 4.6km through Earth’s history\, where each kilometre represents 1 billion years. \n\n\n\nPlease arrive a little before 09.30am by the crossroads at Chipperfield Road and Love Lane\, so we can leave promptly at 09.30am. We’ll finish back at the Common around 1.30pm. \nThe walk is a journey through 4.6bn years of Earth history\, where each metre equates to 1 million years. It provides a deep experience that invites us to view the world differently\, encouraging positive action for a regenerative Earth. \nStarting at the formation of the solar system and the creation of Earth\, we will cover the 18 most significant events and key revolutions in Earth’s deep history\, including the formation of the Moon\, the oceans\, the atmosphere\, the evolution of Life\, plate tectonics\, the Cambrian Explosion\, mass extinctions\, dinosaurs and right at the end\, our own species\, humans – just in the last few centimetres! \nA deep-time perspective invites us to consider not only how we imagine the future\, but how the future will imagine us. SUMMARY:Litter Pick - Ebury Way
DESCRIPTION:Be a wildlife saviour and help care for our local environment by supporting a litter pick near you – Join us ! \n\n\n\nEvery year\, an estimated 8 million tonnes of litter washes into our rivers and enters the world’s oceans. Plastic poses the biggest threat to marine wildlife as it doesn’t just disappear; it simply breaks down into smaller and smaller pieces\, and has detrimental effects on food chains\, working its way up from the tiniest organism into the bodies of animal throughout the food chain. \nLitter pickers\, high-vis vests and bin bags will be provided. We will also provide gloves but if you have your own gardening gloves feel free to bring these. Stout boots will be a bonus there as there is mud in places. \nChildren are welcome to participate but must be closely supervised by a parent or guardian at all times. \nEvery piece of litter collected is one less hazard in the environment. Come along – whether a regular picker or a first-time volunteer – and make a positive\, practical contribution! \nMeet outside Batchworth Lock Canal Centre\, WD3 1JJ (what3words: jumpy.mass.dollar) at 2.25 for a prompt set off at 2.30pm.  We will arrive back to the Canal Centre by approximately 4.30pm.
